Aqua Clara is soon heading to Peru. Our primary mission is with the community of Infierno, a community east of the Andes and in the Amazon basin. Partnering with Rainforest Expeditions and with local community members, ACF soon plans on local construction of reactors for at least 150 families in the community.
Launched over a decade ago, the partnership between Rainforest Expeditions and the community of Infierno has been immensely successful. Three lodges are now jointly operated in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner that benefits and empowers the locals. The community members are not only the labor force, but are part owners. A partnership with ACF will purify the drinking water available to villagers, and will do so in a fashion consistent with the ethos of the community and the business.
Our transfer agent for the upcoming April 2008 trip will be Scott Rumpsa, aided by friend of Aqua Clara and long-time resident of Peru David Bruggers. The initial contact was made by ACF board member Chuck Fowler, who met Kurt Holle, General Manager at Rainforest Expeditions while on a family holiday.
ACF is also working with David Bruggers in hope of serving other communities across Peru. The trip, beginning with the community of Infierno, is hoping to launch at least two, possibly three, operations this April.
