KENYA
KERIO Clean Water Company is a diamond star Beta Site for Aqua Clara. Rosaline Kimosop, Abraham, Kimosop, and Rael Mutai took the challenge of starting this business, and astounded us all as they rented a building, got all the licenses and bank accounts, wrote the Business Plan, and began operations! Rosaline and Rael held meetings called “Merry-Go-Round” meetings all over the area, and enthused hundreds of women who now can’t wait for Clean Water! They are truly amazing, and will continue to break all records, and then start new businesses with the women in the surrounding villages. We are so proud of them and their work.
Jay Loucks, a nurse from Grand Rapids, is in Eldoret from February until May 2008 assessing the medical conditions in these villages and teaching the modules of the Health and Hygiene program to the children in the schools and the families in the villages.
The Beta Site in Eldoret actually started at the RITT Seminary (Reformed Institute of Theological Training) under the direction of Dennis Hoekstra of Partners Worldwide and with the training and leadership of John Hesselink III. Other work is going on with the eight sites of Special Ministries under Marilyn Newman in Nairoibi.
With all of the political unrest, and the uprisings on the streets in this city and surrounding villages, the very people who have become our friends have been threatened and disrupted in their lives since December. Every day the Aqua Clara Team and the Kenyan Business Leaders unite across the time zones and half way across the world in prayer for peace and stability in Kenya -- Aqua Clara at noon, and Kenya at 8 PM.
